NACHP Logo Design Elements
Balance
Overall the logo is very balanced and has a mirrored/reflected design. It is important to incorporate balance into our lives. Many woodland tribes incorporate a mirrored look in art.
Shape
A “badge styled” logo was used because of the details needed. The shape of a circle has a huge significance in native culture.
Colors
Color palette reflects the Medicine Talkers logo so that is easier to read that they are related or cousins/cuzzints. The NACHP logo uses those same colors, along with green.
Sweetgrass Plant
One of the 4 sacred medicines: The sweetgrass plant fuses into the braid.
Sweetgrass Braid
The braid reflects the number 12 to represent the 12 Tribes of Wisconsin.
Cedar Branch & Sage Leaves
Two of the 4 sacred medicines: These traditional medicines have physical qualities for medicinal purposes, also spiritual uses for healing and ceremonies.
Heart Shaped Flower
Placed in the center to represent themes of the heart, health and love.
Strawberry
The strawberry can also be known as the heart berry because of its shape. There are many teachings that are told with this medicinal plant. The white strawberry flower grows along side the strawberry.
Flower Variety
Many flowers and plants are used for medicinal purposes. Some of the flowers used reflect realistic flowers that are used.
The NACHP logo was designed by graphic designer Mary Ann Wildcat (Lac du Flambeau Ojibwe).
