Melissa Metoxen serves as NACHP’s Assistant Director. She is a member of the Oneida Nation and lives in Green Bay, leading the Tribal Engagement Office (TEO) housed in the Oneida Community Health Center in Oneida, Wisconsin. The TEO is vital to NACHP’s tribal partnership building and student outreach and engagement.
Melissa attended UW–Madison as a first-generation college student and that experience has influenced the way she approaches her work. Since starting to work for UW–Madison over 15 years ago, she has encouraged and supported Native American and first-generation students as they figure out their paths to college. She also liaises with projects involving tribal partners and UW faculty to ensure they are guided by the tribal partner’s interests and needs. She has supported projects in workforce development, improving health outcomes and student engaged research.
