Autumn Chevalier enhances our pre-health pathway program opportunities for Native youth. As a UW–Madison undergraduate and a PEOPLE program student, Chevalier was heavily involved in NACHP pre-health opportunities and has participated in programs such as the American Association of Medical College’s Summer Health Professions Education (SHPEP) program. She also held a leadership role with the Native American student organization Wunk Sheek. Chevalier completed a one-year post-baccalaureate program as a biochemistry research assistant in the UW–Madison Simcox Laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry, where she assisted faculty members with a lipidomic research project related to metabolic markers in Native American communities suffering from high rates of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Chevalier is a member of the Menominee Nation, grew up on the Menominee reservation and is a graduate of UW–Madison with a major in Human Development and Family Studies.
